FAQ
- What is CrimpCraft?
- A web platform where climbing gyms, route setters, and home-wall owners design custom climbing grips in the browser and have them CNC-machined. Every grip starts as a 3D voxel sculpt that you can edit, publish to the community gallery, and order in any quantity.
- Do I need 3D modelling experience?
- No. The editor is built around brush tools — Add, Subtract, Smooth, Flatten, Pull, Push — that feel more like sculpting clay than CAD. A first usable grip takes a few minutes; the editor walks you through validation and manufacturability before checkout.
- What materials are available?
- Wood and plastic at launch. Pick your material in the Finish tab — the editor’s live price estimate updates with the chosen material rate and your grip volume.
- How long does an order take?
- Target turnaround is 3–7 business days from order confirmation to despatch, plus shipping time. You can track each order from the Orders page — manufacturing status is shown alongside the Shopify shipping link.
- What happens to my designs if I publish them?
- Publishing creates an immutable snapshot that other CrimpCraft users can preview and fork from the gallery. Your working copy stays private and continues to evolve independently. Publishing is the gateway to earning CrimpCash — see the next question.
- What is CrimpCash?
- Account credit you earn when someone else orders one of your published designs. The designer of every order gets 1% of the paid total as CrimpCash, applied to their balance when the order ships. Spend it at checkout — in the cart or in the editor's Order panel — as a discount on any order. CrimpCash is non-transferable and non-convertible to cash. You don't earn credit on your own purchases.
- Can I fork someone else's design?
- Yes — any public design can be forked into your own private draft. Forks of public designs must be published once before you can order them, so attribution back to the original author is preserved. If your fork sells, the CrimpCash earnings go to you, not the original author — they get the attribution chip on every fork descended from their work.
- Is there a free trial?
- The editor is free to use indefinitely. You only pay when you place an order through Shopify checkout. There are no subscriptions.
- Where do you ship?
- Europe at launch, plus any region with low regulatory and logistics friction. Shipping rates and options are shown on the Shopify checkout page.
- What if I find a bug or want a feature?
- Email feedback to jesper.tveit@gmail.com — early-access users have direct line to the project.
